Contemporary quilt wall hanging based on Louisa Smith's technique of Strips and Curves. I start with a focus fabric and then add fabric strips in many color gradations. Different colors can help to obtain harmony, contrast and depth. When combined with texture and patterns in the fabric they create a feeling of movement and achieve special visual effects. This quilt was machine quilted by Kathrine Miller.

Dimensions: 46.5" in length, 37.5" wide

There is a fabric casing on the back to facilitate use of a rod or dowel for hanging the quilt.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Originally from Germany, I started quilting in 2003. I began producing blocks and quilts on my own by combining my sewing ability with the use of color and design to create new works of art. I have participated in exhibits at the Art Alliance, the Boalsburg Heritage Museum, Foxdale Village and at the Venice Area Quilt Guild Shows.

I have won several prizes in past Center Pieces Quilt Guild Shows including "Best of Show" in 2009 and recently won several blue ribbons at the Quilting by the Gulf Shows in Venice, Florida.
