Ohana pack of 4 Samoan crabs from Paepae o Heeia in Kaneohe. Crab sizes range from 2-4 lbs each.

Paepae o Heeia is a private non-profit organization dedicated to caring for Heeia Fishpond – an ancient Hawaiian fishpond located in Heeia Uli, Koolaupoko, Oahu. Established in 2001 by a group of young Hawaiians, Paepae o Heeia works in partnership with landowner, Kamehameha Schools, to manage and maintain Heeia Fishpond for the community. Paepae o Heeia was established to malama Heeia Fishpond and serve as kiai to this precious resource and treasure.

Mahalo nui to Hiilei Kawelo for teaching the fishpond course called HWST 353 Malama Loko Ia.  In HWST 353 the students will study traditional Hawaiian fishpond management with hands-on experience at Heeia fishpond near Kaneohe, merging traditional Native knowledge and ways of seeing with Western science.
