Volver Single Vineyard La Mancha  2012
Castilla La Mancha, Spain

Vinous 91:

(all tempranillo; aged in new French oak for 18 months): Dark purple. Expressive dark berry preserve, vanilla and floral pastille aromas are lifted by a subtle peppery nuance. Lush and open-knit, offering intense blueberry and cherry-vanilla flavors that tighten up with air. Finishes on a juicy note, with excellent length, silky tannins and an echo of blue fruits.

Trig Point Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Dust Vineyard 2012
Alexander Valley, California

Tim Sellon:

We’re completely smitten by the strong performance of the 2016 Trig Point Diamond Dust Vineyard. Founded in 1998 by industry veteran Nick Goldschmidt, Trig Point is located in the Alexander Valley. Mr. Goldschmidt has an extensive resume as a winemaker, most notably being one of the driving forces that brought the Simi Reserve Cabernet program to huge critical acclaim.

His Diamond Dust vineyard is considered by many to be one of the truly great vineyards in Alexander Valley. The vineyard itself sits on a benchland site with deep gravelly loam soils which are ideal for growing fantastic Cabernet Sauvignon. Supple, luscious cherry, raspberry and cocoa powder with satisfying sweetness and layers of gorgeous texture. Deliciously concentrated with plenty of underlying structure.

Sequoia Grove Cabernet 2015
Sonoma, California

Wine Advocate 89-90:

A barrel sample made up of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of cedar, earth and sage with blackberries, mulberries and spice box suggestions. The full-bodied, approachable/open-knit palate shows notable toasty oak, good concentration and chewy tannins, finishing long and spicy.
