BOOK - The Zone is a historical novel set in 1937 Nanjing during the infamous Rape of Nanking (now Nanjing). Two families struggle to survive the atrocities inside the International Safety Zone set up by westerners who refused to leave China. They constantly face death from the Japanese Army who brutally murder innocent civilians and rape women on a mass scale.
