Description

Hilton Head Chef Herb Wilkins will come to your home and cook a spectacular meal for six people. Chef Herb is very well-known to the Lowcountry and will provide you and your friends with a menu of your choice in the comfort of your own home. He graciously prepares one meal a month for the participants at Memory Matters.

Herb Wilkins was born in Hilton Head SC and is a 1st generation natural-born SC Islander.  Herb was born into a family passionate about the culinary world and grew up to become a second-generation chef.  Herb's family moved to Hilton Head Island before his birth when his father took a position as an Executive Food and Beverage Director position for the prestigious Sea Pines Resort.  Keeping with the passion of the cooking industry Herb's mother came on board as the food and beverage accountant.

Herb Sr. was instrumental in grooming his son to become not only a top-rated chef but also to understand where talent and hard work could take you.  He instilled in Herb Jr. not only an incredible work ethic but encouraged him to always maintain a servant's heart, and to always be proud of his Heritage.  This shines through with everything he does and his pride in his work is undeniable.

At a young age, Herb Jr. decided to follow in the footsteps of his father who has always been his hero, and dove in headfirst learning all the concepts his father used to become a Top Chef.

Herb has always admired and respected his parents, and it was just normal for him to want to make them proud and carry on their legacy.  So, during high school, he worked for a local restaurant and started the journey to what led him here today.  After high school, Herb chose to go to Johnson & Wales University to begin his official Culinary Education.  While going to school he began working at Charleston Place Hotel where he learned new techniques and saw such amazing things that he incorporates into what he does daily now.  Two weeks into school Herb met his college sweetheart and future wife, Whitney Spears.  After graduating with a BA in foodservice management and AA in culinary arts there was never a second guess at the path he was on.

Herb and Whitney who are both Chefs began their careers as well as beginning a family. Through all the trials and tribulations of 22 years, Herb has been molded into not only a Top Chef but as a Manager, Father, Husband, and Friend.  Herb strives to be a Friend to all and mentor to those who take an interest in the culinary field.

Herb now serves as a Regional Chef for a well-respected and trusted company in the Senior Living industry, WindRiver. Herb travels from SC to Texas and helps out with all WindRiver communities expanding the culinary experience.

Herb is well respected and well-loved at all the communities and WindRiver is so proud to call him part of their family.
