Description
Peju - 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - 1.5L, 1 Bottle
Ripe red berries, plum, and vanilla bean infuse the glass of this rich 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, a perfect balance of structured tannins and fruit envelops the taste buds, displaying fresh raspberry, leather, smoke, and toasted marshmallow. This wine culminates in a long finish with layers of cinnamon and anise. Bold and enchanting now, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon will continue to mature for the next decade or more.

Vintage: The 2014 harvest has been termed a “dream vintage” regarding quality. In spite of the ongoing drought and the South Napa earthquake, the wines showed great depth of flavor, intense aromatics, and were excellent overall. Well-timed rains in February and March gave much-needed water to the vines while emerging from dormancy and through bud break. A mild spring and warm summer provided ideal growing conditions, leading to an early jump on the harvest. We look back on this vintage and celebrate our good fortune of another bountiful year with undeniably excellent fruit.
The Story: The love of farming and a passion for wine brought Tony Peju to the Napa Valley. A series of ideas -- starting in his birthplace on the Caspian Sea, then France, England and eventually, Los Angeles -- created the Peju's Napa Valley winery. In 1982, Tony and his wife Herta purchased 30 acres of land in the Napa Valley with the magic ingredient -- location. Neighboring vineyards in Rutherford included Robert Mondavi, Inglenook, and Beaulieu. Situated between Highway 29 and the Napa River, the acreage included a 1900-era house and rambling vineyards, some 60 or more years old. Looking to the future, Tony and Herta have introduced their two daughters, Lisa and Ariana, to the workings of the wine business. Both of the young women are immersing themselves in all aspects of Peju Winery.
Rutherford Estate Vineyard: Our Rutherford Estate is comprised of a total of 30 acres, 22 of which are planted with the five traditional Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. In addition to our Rutherford Estate, we have 128 acres at our Persephone vineyard in Pope Valley and another 11 acres at our Dutch Henry vineyard in Calistoga.
