Description
Outstanding in their Field! Half Case of Farmstrong Field Blended Wines - 6 Bottles
Farmstrong Field Red - 2 Bottles: This wine fills the glass with aromas of dark fruit, pencil shavings, grilled bread, and hints of freshly ground white pepper, which are complemented by flavors of black plums, preserves, cranberry, and warm Okanagan cherry clafouti that’s been cooked in a cast iron pan.
This is a blend from three of my growers and they are all sustainably dry-farmed sites: 80+ years old Carignane from Hawkeye Ranch in Redwood Valley (36%), 120+ years old Carignane from Casa Roja Vineyard in Contra Costa (28%), and Syrah from Ledgewood Vineyard in Suisun Valley (36%). All three of the vineyard sites where the grapes of this blend are grown have a large diurnal temperature shift. This is a key element that allows the fruit to be balanced and beaming with flavor at lower sugars, allowing me to harvest earlier and retain the lovely natural acidity, vibrant red fruits, and floral notes.
This wine has loads of fruit, mellow tannins, and complex aromatics, a go-to red, super fun and refreshingly reliable.
Farmstrong Field Claret - 2 Bottles: Modeled after the classic “Clairet” of Bordeaux, which were Bordeaux red blends that were more moderate in tannin, often blended with Malbec to craft a softer wine, the Farmstrong Field Claret is a field blend of grapes picked on the same day, from the same family vineyard, and then co-fermented (all fermented in the same tank together). It’s a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec & Petit Verdot from the Johnson Family Home Ranch in Ukiah, CA
A field pick of Cabernet, Malbec, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, picked and co-fermented in an open-top fermenter. About 14 days on the skins, pressed, and barrel-aged in neutral French Oak for 8 months. Farmstrong Claret is a moderately extracted, claret-style wine that showcases fresh Bordeaux varietal notes of fresh cherries, red currant and berries, oil-cured black olives with fresh herbs, and some dusty cocoa. On the palate, natural acid frames the wine along with moderate tannins. Unfined.
The vineyard is farmed sustainably and is certified Fish Friendly Farming.
Farmstrong Field Rose - 1 Bottle: Loaded with vibrant lively fruits, it is summer in a glass: ripe strawberries, honey tangerine, camellia blossom. This wine is inviting, happy, easy-going, and relaxing… like a walk in the park on a sunny day.
The Farmstrong Field Rosé is the result of an intentional rosé program, picked expressly for rosé and 100% whole cluster pressed. This blend is from two vineyard sites in northern Mendocino’s Redwood Valley: Carignane from the 80-year-old vines in Hawkeye Ranch (50%), Zinfandel(50%) from 48-year-old vine in KenMar Vineyard. Hawkeye Ranch is owned and farmed by the Johnsons, who are 5th generation growers and true stewards of the land. KenMar is owned and Farmed by Ken and Margo Schrock.
Farmstrong Field White - 1 Bottle: Farmstrong Field White is a dynamic blend of Chardonnay from Johnson Family Ranch (Fish Friendly Farming) and Chenin Blanc from Sterling Ranch (sustainably farmed on the Talmage Bench) in Mendocino county.
Field White is a great companion to food. With notes of ripe apple, stone fruit, along with tropical fruit accents, the wine's natural acidity is balanced for enjoyment by the glass, yet also works very well to complement a wide variety of food.

Farmstrong Wines are dynamic blends that tilt their hat to California’s diversity and history. They are expressions the vineyard sites are very special to me. I am a true believer in personal connection and there is a story behind each vineyard site and how it came to be part of my portfolio. In these stories, you will learn more about the people behind these vineyards. I liken my connection to these vineyards to that of one’s favorite shirt or coffee mug or chair. Like a well-worn fabric or a slightly chipped mug that may have initially caught my eye for its beauty, but over the years it has won my heart because it just feels right. When it comes to vineyards this happens too, and it is a combination of my connection with the vines themselves and my connection with those that tend them. For me, the growers' hands are most definitely part of the terroir.
Sustainably farmed grapes, together with precise, unmanipulated; thoughtful winemaking.
Farmstrong is a cause-driven wine brand, that gives back to support farming practices that benefit the environment.
