Description

Chardonnay Lover 4-Pack: Shafer, PlumpJack, Jarvis Estate & Godspeed Vineyards - 4 Bottles

Shafer 2017 Red Shoulder Ranch, Carneros Chardonnay, 1 Bottle: Shafer's single-vineyard Carneros-grown Chardonnay is produced from small-clustered clones of grapes selected for their low yields and distinctive flavors. Fermentation takes place within individual oak and stainless steel barrels using native yeasts. The wine matures on the lees for 14 months and since it undergoes no malolactic fermentation this Chardonnay retains a lively natural acidity. The vineyard is named for its Red-shouldered Hawks and other birds of prey, who play an important role in Shafer's sustainable farming practices.

The 2017 Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch is a very beautiful wine. The warm vintage produced a Chardonnay that is a bit richer and more generous than has become the norm here in recent years, but the style of the wine is unchanged in its citrus and floral-driven profile.

PlumpJack 2020 Napa Valley Reserve Chardonnay, 1 Bottle: The nose of the 2020 PlumpJack Chardonnay opens with a range of citrus notes -- lemon, orange zest, pomelo, and key lime. Just behind these are the rich tropical notes of lychee and feijoa along with the sweeter, more delicate aromatics of white peach and honeysuckle. Underneath all of this is a hint of toasted hazelnuts and spice. The palate has similar flavors and a creamy texture reminiscent of lemon curd. The vibrant and bright acidity balances the creaminess and gives this wine life. This acidity, along with the beautiful structure, delivers an enduring finish.

Jarvis Estate 2018 Finch Hollow Chardonnay - 1 Bottle: This unique Chardonnay features grapes from a special plot in our vineyard called Finch Hollow, which is characterized by particularly shallow soil with exceptional drainage. It was this portion of our vineyards most frequented by Finch Hollow's birds before we started netting all vineyards. The distinct terroir of this site offers intense tropical fruit notes in the grapes and we began bottling this section of the vineyard separately beginning with the 2000 vintage.

Godspeed 2013 Chardonnay Mount Veeder Napa, 1 Bottle: The vines were planted in 1987 using the "Spring Mountain Clone." These same vines earned Godspeed Wine Enthusiast's "Chardonnay of the Year" award in a previous year. Burgundian in style and featuring our 100% Estate Mountain grown, hand harvested Chardonnay, the grapes are whole clustered crushed, and barrel fermented (no malolactic and lightly oaked with less that 25% new oak barrels). A crisp refreshing wine with a tropical fruit nose and a citrus back that drinks especially well in warm weather and pairs beautifully with Southwestern and Asian Cuisine. "Rivals Chassagne-Montrachet." A great food wine and age-worthy Chardonnay."

2013 vintage received a Double Gold Medal at the American Fine Wine Competition 2016.

PlumpJack: In 1995, Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty stumbled upon a magical piece of land in the heart of Oakville, Napa Valley. Inspired by one of Shakespeare's most memorable characters, Sir John "PlumpJack" Falstaff, whose fun-loving, down-to-earth disposition is only rivaled by his fierce loyalty to Prince Henry V, with whom he shares more than a few goblets of sack (wine) at the local tavern. We pay allegiance to our world-class vineyard by crafting high-quality wines that honor the land, and we celebrate the convivial spirit of our namesake with their inviting, approachable style.  plumpjackwinery.com

Jarvis wines are all produced from estate vineyards, located high above the city of Napa, in the beautifully rugged mountains between Mt. George and Milliken Canyon at the southeastern end of the Napa Valley. The vineyards are planted in gently sloping meadows one thousand feet above the valley floor. As the cool maritime air passes over the Carneros flats and begins flowing into the valley, it falls about seven degrees in temperature for the thousand feet of vertical rise. As such, our vineyards tend to be cooler by several degrees than the famous Carneros region! These cooler temperatures allow a long "hang time," which permits a long, slow fruit maturation for maximum flavor and concentration at harvest. www.jarviswines.com

Godspeed is an artisan grower in the Mount Veeder Appellation of Napa Valley situated at an altitude of 1500 ft. The vineyard is the project of the Larry Stricker family. Larry is an acclaimed architect who has created world-class resort hotels, including the Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona; the Marriott Desert Springs Resort and a series of Hawaiian properties including the Halekulani, Kahala Resort, Kapalua Bay Hotel and the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. At his Mount Veeder estate, he has over time sold his world-class fruit to recognized wineries including Robert Craig, Bremmer, William Hill, Newton & Monticello. Since 1990 he has taken advantage of his exceptional vineyard by bottling half his production under his own label. Three wines are produced at Godspeed: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Trinity. All three are made in a very elegant, almost "European" style, with an emphasis on the vineyard's unique micro-climate, as expressed in the wine's balance and fruit element. https://godspeedvineyards.webs.com/
