Description

The surreal lore of the Paskowitz family was portrayed to me through the pages of surfing magazines, and a rare, albeit distant, sighting of the motor home and clan at San Onofre. Almost two decades later a friend alerted me to a used performance longboard at Bruce Jones’ surf shop in Sunset Beach (circa 2000 - 2001). I had sold my first company and moved back from Santa Cruz to south OC and needed a racy longboard. The flames harkened back to a custom AIPA stinger I had in high school, the thin rails and the dramatic pintail spelled performance, and the stunning logo of Izzy arching back on a one-foot wave rendered me smitten. I had to buy it. And perform it does. More decades have since elapsed. About a year ago I noticed Izzy’s local charity and thought, “I’d like to donate this board to his charity.” More time, and then I had the chance encounter of meeting Izzy’s brother, Abraham, at ISURUS wetsuits this July and told him about the board and my desire to offer it for the charity. He stated the provenance of this board: Bruce Jones (“BJ” initials on the bottom) had made it “For IZZY”, for a surf trip to Tavarua. here we are at the lovely Ritz-Carlton above Salt Creek. A lovely specimen to hold, gaze upon, and ride.
