About: Jade LaVarta

Jade LaVarta is a local Colorado artist and native who is inspired by the flora and fauna enveloping the immense wilderness of the Rocky Mountains. Originally born and raised between the Uncompahgre and San Juan National Forests, she has always found her inspiration through the towering pines, oceans of wildflowers, and rugged mountain peaks. She uses traditional techniques and various mediums to create her work; delving into the time-honored rawness of graphite and charcoal, the fine-lined details of pen and ink, and on occasion, escaping to the controlled fluidity of watercolor paints.

"Throughout my life I have always shared a strong kinship with wildlife, and being blessed with the opportunity to have been brought up in the forest has gifted me with amity, solace, and a deep understanding of myself; The clean scent of the early morning dew-kissed earth and pine, the familiar melodies of surrounding songbirds, and the distant bugles of neighboring elk are what move me as an artist, and have forged me into the wild and intuitive woman I am today."
