$25 Gift Certificate and Picture Book: Monhegan Isle View -The Art of Kevin Beers

It is amazing to me to realize that 2021 marks 25 years of representing the work of Kevin Beers here in Maine.
Our introduction to Kevin Beers’s work was a serendipitous visit to our gallery by Ed Deci, a founder and longtime director of the Monhegan Museum. Ed mentioned that the brother of a boyhood friend had begun visiting Monhegan to paint and that he thought the work was quite good. We were pleased to have a visit from Kevin and began showing his work on the spot.
Kevin found a receptive audience for his paintings and developed a base of collectors who responded to his handling of light and shadow, unique compositions, choice of subject, and obvious connection with the special place that is Monhegan Island. Our gallery has long associated itself with the art created on Monhegan Island, as a result of Robert Henri’s 1903 visit to Boothbay Harbor to see his friend, the noted Pennsylvania Impressionist Edward Redfield, at his summer home. They took a painting trip to Monhegan Island, and the rest, as they say, is “art history.”
A book can only sample the depth and range of Kevin’s nearly three decades of exploring the richness of the Maine coast, but the viewer will surely delight in experiencing the symbiosis of a true artist and his chosen subject.
