Last New Year’s Eve, Kristen’s four-year old cat Cheeto was in severe pain from a urinary blockage and needed surgery to survive. His surgical team had applied every discount they could to reduce the procedure’s cost; however, Kristen still needed to find several hundred dollars, or they could not operate. When she got the call from MRFRS and learned we were going to provide funds for Cheeto’s surgery, Kristen’s relief was immediate. MRFRS’s Feline Assistance Resources & Support (FARS) program for veterinary assistance makes it possible for pets to return home to their families – where they belong.

As Kristen shared with us, “MRFRS was there in a time of great need and crisis. I felt so helpless knowing there was something I could do to help Cheeto but couldn’t because I didn’t have the money. He is a member of my family, and I would do anything for him. I am so thankful for MRFRS helping to pay for Cheetos’ surgery - I couldn’t imagine the void in my life if I lost him.”
