Dominus Estate in the Napa town of Yountville (also site of internationally known French Laundry restaurant) was established in 1973 by Christian Moeiux of Chateau Petrus fame. Situated on the famed Napanook vineyard, it was, in the 1940's and 1950's, the source of fruit for some of the finest Napa valley wines. Today, this historic vineyard produces three wines: Dominus, it's flagship, Napanook, and Othello. The vineyard is 103 acres growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Christian Moeiux chose the name 'Dominus' ('lord of the estate' in Latin) to underscore his long term commitment to the land. Robert Parker gave this age worthy 1992 Dominus a score of 95. Drink it with dignity.
