Phelps Vineyards is a Napa Valley BLUEBLOOD founded in 1973. Joe was a construction company owner in Colorado and purchased a 600-acre cattle ranch near St. Helena. The property was a blank slate. In 1974 he created his most important legacy: California's very first proprietary red Bordeaux-style blend-INSIGNIA. Robert Parker gave the 2002 Insignia a perfect score of 100 when he tasted it in 2013 with a drinking window 2013 to 2033. It's a beauty.
