Island Packers has boat trips to and from the Channel Islands. Our boats are powered by bio-diesel fuel and are eco friendly. The islands offer lots of fun for the entire family. While visiting the islands you can hike, camp, kayak or take a guided wildlife tour. There are plenty of marine mammals on the islands. About Anacopa Island
Anacapa is the closest island to the mainland, just 12 miles from the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard. Most of Island Packers departures to East Anacapa Island are from our location in the Channel Islands Harbor. Travel Time is approximately one hour, a little longer if we come across interesting wildlife in the channel.
Anacapa is comprised of three small islets; East, Middle, and West. Exploration is permitted on the east islet, accessed via the Landing Cove, and a small beach on the west islet called Frenchys Cove. The middle islet and most of the western islet remain a wilderness area set aside for nesting seabirds, like the endangered California Brown Pelican.
About Santa Cruz Island
At over 96 square miles in size and the largest island in California, Santa Cruz contains three mountain ranges; the highest peak on the island (rising above 2000 feet); a large central valley/fault system; deep canyons with year round springs and streams; and 77 miles of craggy coastline cliffs, giant sea caves, pristine tide pools and expansive beaches.
These varied land forms support more than 600 plant species in ten different plant communities from marsh and grasslands to chaparral and pine forests. There are 140 land birds and 11 land mammal species; three amphibian and five reptile species; a large colony of nesting sea birds, breeding seals and sea lions and other diverse marine animals and plants.
