Description
Purvis Young (February 4, 1943 – April 20, 2010) was an American artist from the Overtown neighborhood of Miami, Florida. Self-taught, Young's work was often a blend painting/drawing with collaged elements utilizing everyday discarded found objects. In 2006, a feature documentary titled Purvis of Overtown was produced about his life and work. His work is found in the collections of the American Folk Art Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the High Museum of Art, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, amongst others. In 2018, he was inducted in the Florida Artists Hall of Fame.

Physical items can be picked up at The Waverly School Elementary Campus, 67 W. Bellevue, Pasadena, from May 14-18, 2022 between 8:30am-10:30am. After May 18th, items will be mailed to the winning bidder at an additional cost for shipping. The Waverly School and/or donors are not responsible for shipping fees.
