Artist Statement:
Marblehead Harbor Panorama is the 5th Cod I have donated to the Marblehead Festival of Arts. This Cod is based on my painting which won the People's Choice Award for the 2019 Festival Paint the Town event. I had intended to face Devereux Beach and paint all the people enjoying the sun. However, that morning was cold and drizzly and nobody was there! So I stood under the little shelter at the back of the beach, turned around and painted the harbor instead. It was one of those magical mornings when the clouds were heavy and dark, but a bit of light was breaking through them to make the water glow a luminous light green. That is the fun of painting en plein air; it is always surprising.
Artist Biography:
Sheila Farren Billings is an award-winning local artist and the author/illustrator of 5 published children's books. She works in a variety of mediums and styles and especially loves painting en plein air, inspired by the beauty of New England. Sheila enjoys collaborating with her patrons to create artwork that speaks to them. Special Instructions
Pick-up of purchased cods will be July 9-14 at MacRea's Goods, 108 Washington St, Marblehead during normal store hours. The winning bidder will receive a notification email with information on pick-up time and location.
If winning bidder requires shipping, winner's credit card will be charged a separate $24.95 fee to cover USPS ground and handling. Shipping is available within the U.S. only and must be requested within 7 days after receipt of the notification email.
Any cod purchased via "Buy Now" will remain on display at the hosting business through the end of the auction, and will be available for pick-up as detailed in the winning bidder notification email.
If winning bidder has not picked up cod (or provided shipping address) within 30 days after the close of the auction, cod will become the property of Marblehead Festival of Arts, Inc.
