The mask represents the Evolution of Life. It consists of three layered faces: Inner, Middle, and Outer. The Inner Face represents Birth - the beginning and origin of life. The Middle Face represents Life. All the physical and metabolic changes which occur are related to the being, in its environment. The Mayas considered Life as supremeness. The Outer Face reporesents Death, Termination of Life, destruction due to sickness or progressive weakness of the organic functions.
