Description
Handmade by Basis Scottsdale Freshman, Alex P!
This airplane is a Northrop F-20 Tigershark. Built to challenge the F-16 for an Air Force contract, it outperformed the F-16 in many ways and had many buyers, including the U.S.A.F. and foreign countries, interested. However, the United States ultimately chose to go with the F-16, and unfortunately for Northrop, no Tigersharks were ever sold. Still, the plane was quite capable; it could take off in just 60 seconds after it started up, and it could climb to 53,000 feet per minute. Chuck Yeager, the first pilot to ever break the sound barrier, and the test pilot for the Tigershark, called it “The sweetest little jet I’ve ever flown.”
This particular model is made from Dr. Pepper Cherry Zero Sugar cans. The wheels are rubber RC airplane tailwheels, and the canopy is made out of a softsoap bottle.
