Hourglass Wine produced their first vintage in 1997 and for many years their entire production was from the single 4 acre Hourglass Vineyard just north of St. Helena. Today they own two vineyards – the original estate Hourglass Vineyard (purchased in 1975) and the Blueline Vineyard in the Calistoga sub appellation (purchased in 2006). Pairing the wisdom, skill and artistry of the winemaking team and the soul of the dramatic vineyards, Hourglass wines are modern and simply elegant. 2017 HG III Red Blend $50

Winemaker's Notes: "A beautiful, classic example of grace and balance, weighted with depth and dimension. An aromatic waterfall of bright floral notes (rose oil and tobacco), descending into pure fruit (red and black cassis), anchored with toasty wood aromas (cedar). A kaleidoscope of overlapping aromas and flavors that carry through to the initial palate impression and on to a lingering finish. Merlot provides the influence of tangy dark sour cherry, raspberry and cedar, with a bright liveliness on the palate. Petit Sirah yields the deeper bass notes and the weight of darker flavors (black olive, blueberry, bakers chocolate and blackberry bramble), and Cabernet Sauvignon provides the classic delineation and structural framework that weaves the blend together, all the while allowing Merlot to charm with its seductive lusciousness - rich and compelling."

2018 Estate Cabernet $225
At 27 years of age, the Hourglass Estate has officially entered adulthood. Knockout aromas of black cherry, blueberry, roast coffee, and forest floor are lifted by secondary aromas of bright cranberry, raspberry and garrigue. On the palate, savory notes of black olive, soy sauce and grilled bread frame a dense core of deep pomegranate and dark earth with hints of peat. Rich and densely textured throughout, the plush, creamy tannins provide lush mouthfeel on the long, beguiling finish.

2018 HG III Proprietary Blend $50
Rich, textural layers define HG III. The 2018 greets with lifted aromatics of wild cherry, blueberry, cassis, and subtle hints of dried flowers and savory herbs. These aromas carry forward on the palate, the medley of saturated, pure fruit flavors providing dimension to the broad-shouldered, sumptuous texture. Dense and concentrated, yet balanced by lively acidity, a refined structure and well-integrated tannins, HG III delivers an eminently drinkable wine at cork-pull.

2019 Blueline Estate 36 Blend $225
The 2019 is a carefully constructed blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon with 8% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc. Fireworks of crème de cassis, blackberry pie and chocolate covered cherries explode from the glass. Impressively opulent and exotically spiced, this is an inspired wine that promises decades more pleasure to come.

2019 Blueline Estate Merlot $156
Rich and intense throughout, the 2019 Blueline Estate Merlot opens with mandarin orange oil, dark sour cherry and black plum aromatics. Its hallmark savory notes of Asian five spice, bay leaf and cola nut add depth and layered complexity. On the palate, concentrated red fruits and black cassis mingle with hoisin and roasted hazelnut. Texturally supple and gracious, the telltale Blueline crushed stone minerality provides balance with firm structure and lift on the long, plush finish.
