You and a guest are invited to an intimate showing of Jean Butler's "What We Hold," a new work for Dublin Theatre Festival, on Tuesday, June 21 at 6pm in New York City. Enjoy pre-show drinks with the company and an exclusive preview of this work in progress.
"What We Hold," created and choreographed by Butler, composed by Ryan Seaton, will be performed by an intergenerational cast of contemporary and traditional dancers that span 7 decades. The piece features Irish Rep Board Member and Irish dancer Tom Cashin, who was North American Irish Step Dance Champion as a teenager. This site-specific work set within the historic rooms of City Assembly House in the center of Dublin will premiere in Ireland in October 2022 and be performed in New York in 2023.
Dancer, choreographer and scholar, Jean Butler is a leading figure in the world of contemporary Irish dance performance, best known for co-choreographing and originating the female principal roles in Riverdance: The Show and Dancing on Dangerous Ground. Our Steps, founded in 2018 by Butler is a not-for-profit organization that celebrates Ireland's traditional dance and the stories of its people through a range of innovative archival, performance and multidisciplinary projects.
