Artist: Sophia Dress

Ebonized wooden oar lamp- Wooden oar was flame torched, sliced, carved, reassembled and finish sealed into abstract sculptural lamp form. Lamp is electrically wired and serves as a functional lighting source complete with Edison style bulb, 9’ cord, toggle switch and 3 prong plug. Lamp can be displayed either on a table top, wall mounted, or can be suspended like a chandelier.

Sophia Dress is an artist and designer specializing in woodworking. Primarily sourcing reclaimed materials on Cape Cod, Sophia creates abstract artworks, furniture, sculptural objects and installation works that combine modern design elements with the rustic nature of her materials. Sophia is a 13th-generation Cape Cod native and she strives to preserve her home’s histories by providing her materials with a renewed sense of purpose through sustainable practices.
