Description

Tucson Origins and Culture Downtown Walking Tour for up to 10 people

Learn about the origins of one of the most important cities of the American Southwest: Tucson on this cultural heritage itinerary.

Walking downtown Tucson’s El Presidio and the Barrio Viejo districts, we will explore the history and architecture of the community through the themes of the Native American, Spanish colonial, Mexican, and American Territorial eras as well as highlight the regional Sonoran Row House architecture.

We will also overview and explain Tucson’s UNESCO designation as the City of Gastronomy. This is an opportunity to discover what makes Tucson such a unique and special place that forms part of the tapestry that is America.

There is approximately 2 miles total of walking distance on this urban trek along sidewalks and relatively level paved streets. Please be sure to bring comfortable shoes and sun protection - sunscreen, hat, and/or long-sleeved loose-fitting clothing as well as water.

The tour is divided into four themes based on our locations in Tucson including:

Native American History
Spanish Colonial era
Mexican Tucson and the American Territorial eras
Sonoran Row House Architecture
