Ciampa: Pequea cancin

Item Number: 141
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Pequea cancin is a small tribute to the 1863 Cavaill-Coll organ at the Basilica in San Sebastin (a twin of the organ that Franck knew). It was premiered by the composer on a contemporaneous instrument in the United States, the 1864 E. & G. G. Hook organ at Mechanics Hall in Worcester, Massachusetts. San Sebastin is located in the Basque region, in Spain but very close to the French border. Maybe that is why the mysterious harmonies seem to drift freely between Spain and France! It is a diminutive work that may be played on just flutes 8 & 4.
