Description

This item consists of three original linocut prints by the artist Shannon Hiramoto of the southside of Kauai. Each print measures 13" x 10" and was created by cutting a design into a sheet of linoleum and using this sheet to print a design onto paper. The three images are entitled "Two Me's", "Me, Me, Me" and "Half-Listening" and these titles well describe the images, which consist of multi-colored, brooding individuals set against a black background. The subjects are highly original but are vaguely reminiscent of Hawaiian tikis of old.

Shannon Hiramoto is a wide-ranging artist, working in a variety of media, including print making, pottery creation and especially garmet design and production. She was born and raised on Kauai and continues to live there with her husband and daughter. In 2016, she opened a studio in Warehouse 3540 in Lawai where she and her father created a range of items using two letterpresses and one etching press. Unfortunately, COVID led to the closure of her business and she has since directed her energies to creating art, including the prints in the auction item.
