Description

This umeke bowl was handcrafted by Master Woodworker Ray Nitta with Milo wood from the Menehune fishpond on Kauai.  Stitched with black linen.


Traditional Hawaiian Umeke bowls are perfectly-proportioned and timeless. This bowl measures 6 1/2 inches in diameter and 8 1/4 " inches high.


The heart of the master is felt in every stroke onto the wood.


Ray Nitta is a wood craftsman and artisan residing in Kekaha, Kauai. An erstwhile teacher he is still active in enrichment programs at various schools on the west side of the island. He has exhibited his work internationally. Ray is a board member of Lawai International Center.
