Solid Koa, measuring 20" long, 8" wide, 17" tall. Hand rubbed oil finish.
This model of the Hokule'a Hawaiian Voyaging Wa'a (canoe) was designed and created by Steve Soltysik. The Hokule'a is our most famous Hawaiian Sailing Canoe.
Steve has worked directly with elementary schools, visiting 4th grade classes on Kauai where haumana (students) build, sand, and decorate their own Hokule'a model wa'a as a hands-on way to learn about Malama Honua Worldwide Voyage. More than 5,000 have been built on Kauai, Oahu, Big Island Hawaii, and New Zealand.
