A whimsical figural of a sow nursing her five piglets. This wood fired stoneware piece on slab construction has an overall light brown glaze with heavy cobalt/black glaze decoration. Nan Dean (1936-2019) was from Cleveland, GA, and was married to respected potter Wilford Dean. Nan created her own pottery pieces as well as collaborating with Wilford. Her work is much rarer.
