In 2012, Lissa Banks embarked on a series of paintings featuring red flowers. Since then she continued exploring flowers, focusing largely on tulips in the field and in the studio. That project has since enlarged to include a variety of flowers such as zinnias, nasturtiums and more. In selecting her compositions, she looks for the interplay of color and light with a bias toward brilliant hues. Her work has been recognized for its excellence in national and local exhibitions.
Zinnias have held a special place in the artist's heart since summers spent in her grandmother's rural Idaho garden. An avid gardener, Ms. Banks plants them in masses to evoke memories of those warm memories and to serve as inspiration for pieces such as "Orange Zinnia."
This work was selceted to serve as the Attleboro Arts Museum's 2022 Auction brand. Details of the painting appear on all promotional materials, signage, tickets and social media postings. The Auction Committee thanks Ms. Banks for this striking symbol of the Auction's identity.
