Valerie Haggerty-Silva is a mixed media artist and illustrator with years of experience as a graphic designer in the nonprofit world. She holds a BFA in Illustration from RISD, is currently teaching children's art classes at the AAM and continues to experiment with all kinds of mark making' in her art practice as a way to observe, explore, express and connect.

"Mapping Our Worlds" is part of a series of mixed media and collage works that explore color, texture and pattern using found materials and a variety of papers and fibers. The artist enjoys experimenting with layering, weaving and building layouts that are very process driven.
