Description

Yellowstone Angler Review:

We’ve been fishing both the 690 and 691 Sage ONE a lot this winter. To sum it up – they are incredibly light, stiff, and powerful rods. On our last outing to Armstrong’s we were faced with 50+ mph winds, which made the creek look more like an ocean than a trout stream. The 691 (which comes with a fighting butt) consistently punched a size 4 streamer 40 feet directly into hurricane worthy wind. It had plenty of power to steer hooked fish away from bushes but also was able to cast accurately within 20 feet. The 690 Sage ONE’s niche is still incredible line control for casts over 50 feet. Wether fishing streamers or a leech and a scud under an indicator, these rods throw line incredibly well. The only down sides are trying to cast in close with a delicate presentation and protecting tippet during the set. Of course, we all have dry fly rods for that. One thing’s for sure, if you fish in the wind often these rods will get ‘er done!
