Description

These flies are custom tied by FFI Certified Casting Instructor and UC Davis Professor Russ Carpenter.  The pictures show 1/3 of the 4 different patterns that will be included.  In addition, as Russ mentions, he is also going to tie a bonus fly just for the fun and mystery.

Each pattern is designed for and proven to work on the coastal rivers of Northern California and Southern Oregon. All flies are meant to be swung, either with a single hand or spey rod.  This collection includes 3 each of 4 patterns: Burlap variant sz 8, Orleans Barber sz 8, Green Butt Silver Hilton sz 5, and Klamath Intruder 26 mm shank sz 6 hook. As a bonus, the order will also include a lucky 13th surprise fly.

Russ earned a degree in Fisheries Biology from Humboldt State University and has logged a fair share of hours in the redwoods of the north coast. He has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and studied learning, memory and stress in Rainbow Trout. There is no evidence that suggests this is why his flies work so well but, *ahem* you can connect the dots.

If you aren't already convinced to bid on these flies, Russ would wager that Bill Gallogly, another FFI Certified Casting Instructor,  would give them his personal stamp of approval.
