Item Number: 309
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Your guide: Steve Bertrand, a Licensed Professional Guide has 27 years of experience guiding the Upper Sacramento River. He is well known, to the nearby Ted Fay Fly Shop in Dunsmuir, as one of the best guides on the river.
About the river and tour: The Upper Sacramento flows downstream for nearly 40 miles through canyons and a terraced, typical freestone setting, eventually dumping into Lake Shasta. The river is one of the best ‘roadside’ fisheries in the West. There are over 15 freeway exits and railroad tracks that parallel the length of the river. The river is made up of riffles, runs, pocket water, small holes, huge pools and undercuts, all of which provide anglers with opportunities to fish dry flies, a variety of nymphing techniques, or even streamers, all in a day’s fishing. The resident rainbow trout are healthy, mostly wild, and native to the river system.
This is a walk, wade and fish tour of the Upper Sacramento River. You and a friend will learn where and how to fish the Upper Sacramento River.
Tour availability: The trip can be booked only during the week: Monday through Thursday.
What to bring: A California Fishing License is required. Guests are encouraged to use their own gear as long as it is suitable (3 to 6 weight gear, 8 to 9 feet). Rods/reels can be provided. Guests need boots and may need waders depending on the time of year. In late summer, wet wading is usually the preferred mode. Boots and waders can be rented from the Ted Fay Fly Shop in Dunsmuir if needed.
