Class Name:  Wagner’s Music Dramas: Evolution or Revolution?

Class Dates: Class Session 1: Thursday, April 20; Class Session 2: Thrusday April 27; Class Session 3: Thursday MAY 4.  All three classes are from  6:00 PM–7:30PM

Class Description: Wagner considered himself a revolutionary—in politics, in music, and especially in his operas. He liked to think that he had discarded the past and all of its hallowed traditions and forged a completely new path; however, when closely examining his early works, it is evident that he also borrowed freely from his predecessors.

Join Guild lecturer, composer, and conductor Victoria Bond as she uncovers the roots of Wagner's ideas and explores how his revolution may have actually been an evolution.
