About Don Williams Clayworks: "Memories of working with clay stretch back to my childhood. During the 1960’s my mother designed tile walls for office and apartment lobbies in Manhattan. Like most kids who are exposed to clay, I was attracted to the tactile quality of wet clay and the magical transformation that happens to clay after glazing and firing. I played in my mom’s studio while she worked.

As a pre-vet major at the University of New Hampshire in the 70’s this interest in clay was rekindled. I realized, after taking ceramics in my junior year, that this was the road I had to go down, graduating in 1977 with a BFA in Ceramic Sculpture. Following a 9 month apprenticeship in 1978, I began making pots full time."
