This is a very special item and we are honored to have it in this year's auction.  Mike Krepner, whose vision helped inspire the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, created quality high quality canoe gear under the Igas Island label.  Mike passed away in 2018 and his family has donated this item to help raise funds for the trail.  Here's how Mike described these packs:  

"Ever carried a Duluth pack? Remember how those canvas envelopes sucked up water and grew heavier with every portage? Did you curse the narrow leather straps that cut into your shoulders and let the pack ride down low on your back?  Some fun, eh?  That's why Skitikuk packs were created.

Skitikuk packs are designed to fit modern recreational canoes.  They are roomy boxes of Cordura nylon with an abrasion-resistant Ballistic nylon bottom.  Access to the contents is through a full-length #10 YKK zipper, covered with a large spray flap. 3" wide polypropylene shoulder straps make the pack easy to carry, and three strategically spaced handles simplify maneuvering the pack when its not on your back.

Skitikuk packs are not just for canoeing. Folks find them quite useful for any sort of travel that doesn't require long distance backpacking, even just an overnight trip across town to visit friends."
