I dropped out of art school about 10 years ago, but I still love creating art and pushing the boundaries of what I can do. With my pencil sketches, I'm always trying to push closer to realism and trying to create more depth. I enjoy translating the delicate details of these tiny birds - almost all my drawings are of songbirds, as that's what I mainly photograph - from photograph to paper. It gives me a chance to think about light and movement, how they interact in this moment in time, with this tiny constantly moving fluffball, and how I can best interpret that in pencil. I've become a better artist because of it - and it keeps me sane during busy season! I often sketch when I'm working through a tough return or provision, and this little wren can give thanks to the 2022 filing season for its existence!
