Artists Statement:

During the Covid lockdown I had to combat the pull of isolation by making art that is happy and joyful in design. My favorite time as a child was spent on the beach, so I have been making beach toys and treats in bright colors and uplifting shapes.

This “portrait” of Lucy celebrates some of the fun experiences at 4 Seasons Wailea.

My fused glass has always had a basis in the happy memories I have as a child growing up in the 50’s & 60’s. I loved, and still do, mid century design and architecture and my biggest influence was “The Jetsons” cartoon show with its optimism and bold design.

I also make bold portraits in fused glass, and my influences include Picasso & Alex Katz. 

I especially enjoy when children see my work and have an immediate visceral response of joy and pleasure …”Look Mommy” they shout!
