Description
A collection of 6 white wines, including:
Morgen Long Chardonnay Pink Label 2018
Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA
Vinous 90, Wine Advocate 92:
Extremely pale, glistening onion skin. Pear skin, white peach, honey, fennel, orange zest and pungent flowers on the perfumed nose. Silky, focused and nicely concentrated, offering mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruit flavors that become spicier with air. Finishes with firm grip and strong, mineral-driven persistence, leaving a subtly bitter herbal note behind. The 5% Pinot Noir component of this fascinating wine comes in the form of juice and lees from the Maresh vineyard. Raised in a single, neutral, 300-liter French oak barrel.
Drink 2020-2025.
Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve Chardonnay 2010
Santa Barbara, California, USA
Vinous 88:
The 2010 Chardonnay Grand Reserve emerges from the glass with lemon, minerals, white flowers and subtle French oak. The Grand Reserve impresses for its length and textural elegance, both of which are remarkable.
Talbot Logan Sleeping Hollow Chardonnay
Santa Lucia Highlands, California
Vinous 90:
Bright yellow-gold. Complex bouquet of fresh citrus fruits, honeydew, ginger and beeswax. Plump and chewy on the palate, offering ripe orange and melon flavors firmed up by a bitter lemon pith nuance. Finishes clean and chewy, with lingering spiciness and very good persistence.
Walter Scott Chardonnay La Combe Verte 2018
Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA
Cellar Tracker 90:
Transparent straw. Medium-to-medium-light body with medium acid. Lots of minerality, sea shells, and lemon lime soda, with some pear juice that became really prominent as the glass warmed up. Could easily pass for a Burgundy, showed perfectly ripe but still cool citrus fruit. Waxy texture, a healthy dose of acidity on the finish. A classically made and proportioned Chardonnay.
Thibert Les Longeays Pouilly Vinzelles 2014
Maconnais, France
Burghound 89-91, Outstanding:
The pretty and more elegant aromas are composed by a variety of white orchard fruit, wet stone and citrus elements that are trimmed in a discreet application of oak. The racy, intense and overtly stony flavors possess notably better complexity, particularly on the linear and chiseled finish. This is really quite good and should reward 3 to 5 years of cellaring.
Drink after 2020.
Verget Bourgogne Terres de Pierres 2015
Burgundy, France
Vinous 88:
Bright light yellow. Tangy aromas of dried apricot and spicy oak. Broad, tactile flavors of ripe stone fruits complemented by salty minerality and firm acidity. Still a bit tight but has energy.
