Description
A collection of 6 Spanish wines:
Raúl Pérez Ultreia Saint Jacques 2015
Castilla León , Bierzo
Wine Advocate 93:
The 2015 Ultreia St Jacques is the entry-level red for the Ultreia range and is amazingly good for the price. Produced from old vines, this is a serious wine, with juicy fruit, a fine palate and good freshness for the conditions of the year. They have included new vineyards that they have been working for the last four or five years, so they are able to bottle a little bit more wine. This is a great value.
Cvne Vina Real Gran Reserva 2009
Rioja
Vinous 94:
Brilliant ruby. Deeply pitched cherry-vanilla, blackcurrant, dried rose and smoky Indian spices on the nose. Sappy, sweet and broad in the mouth, offering juicy red and dark berry flavors with suggestions of floral pastilles and mocha. Shows a deft blend of concentration, energy and power, with a spine of gentle acidity providing lift and vivacity. Finishes very long and sappy, with repeating cherry and spice character and smooth, slow-building tannins that come on late. This wine was aged for two years in new American oak.
Drink 2018-2026.
Descendientes De Jose Palacios Petalos del Bierzo 2018
Bierzo
Vinous 92:
Dark, bright-rimmed ruby. Spice- and mineral-accented dark berry and floral scents show fine clarity and a complementary hint of candied licorice. Sappy and focused on the palate, offering gently sweet boysenberry, bitter cherry and violet pastille flavors and a spicy touch of white pepper. The mineral quality repeats on a very long, penetrating finish that leaves sweet blue fruit and spicecake notes behind.
Drink 2021-2026.
Numanthia Termes 2015
Toro
Vinous 91:
Bright violet. Smoky, mineral-accented cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by a building floral nuance. Appealingly sweet black and blue fruit flavors pick up mocha and candied violet notes as the wine opens up. Fleshy and open-knit but lively too, finishing with very good persistence, harmonious tannins and resonating dark berry character. 20% new French oak.
Drink now through 2028.
Finca Sandoval Manchuela 2007
Castilla La Mancha, Manchuela
Vinous 92:
(76% syrah, 13% monastrell and 11% bobal) Glass-staining purple. Suave, finely focused aromas of dark berries, Asian spices, anise and smoky minerals, with a sexy mocha undertone. Juicy and nicely balanced, with sweet blackberry and blueberry flavors, gentle spiciness and tangy minerality. The mineral quality helps to extend the sweet, sappy finish. There's an understated, precise quality to this wine that's extremely attractive.
Terra Sanctus Clos la Rae 2014
Priorat
Vinous 91:
Inky ruby color. Highly perfumed, mineral- and spice-accented blackberry and cherry aromas, along with a subtle vanilla quality. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering sweet dark berry, cola and candied cherry flavors that are complemented by hints of cracked pepper and allspice. Finishes sweet, velvety and quite long, with subtle tannins building slowly. In the context of excellent Priorat wines this bottling delivers exceptional value.
Drink 2020 through 2027.
