Description

A collection of wine from around the world:

Teso la Monja Almirez 2012
Toro, Castilla León , Spain

Wine Advocate 91+:

The 2012 Almirez (a 1,000-case cuvée of 100% Tinta de Toro) was aged 14 months in French oak. This sensational wine comes from vines planted between 1949 and 1999. Yields were a conservative 1.8 tons of fruit per acre. An inky/purple color is followed by aromas of camphor, ground pepper, blackberries and cassis. This full-bodied, Northern Rhône Valley-like Spanish red exhibits meaty/lard notes, terrific density and purity, and a finish that lasts nearly 40 seconds. It should drink nicely for a decade or more.

Devise D'Ardilley Haut Medoc 2009
Bordeaux, France

Wine Advocate 92:

The Devise d' Ardilley was the winner of the Coup de Cru Bourgeois that I judged at Vinexpo in June. Here, it justifies that "coup". It has a lovely, beautifully defined bouquet with pure dark berried fruits intertwined with marmalade and orange rind. Sheer class. The palate is beautifully balanced with superb acidity. Very vibrant, very composed with a sensual, caressing finish worthy of a Grand Cru Classe. Outstanding for its class.

Colome Malbec Autentico 2018
Salta, Argentina

Vinous 93, Wine Advocate 93:

Bright ruby. Pungent, high-toned aromas of blackberry, minerals and licorice. Thick and mouthfilling but leavened by terrific penetrating acidity. The dark berry, wild herb, licorice and chalky mineral flavors are complemented by a chocolatey ripeness. Sweet, plush tannins saturate the entire palate, with the finish displaying explosive length. Very strong, very pure and very smooth; expressive and unique.  Drink 2020-2028.

Pala Bovale Isola dei Nuraghi Essentija 2015
Maremma, Italy

Vinous 95:

Saturated violet-ruby. Knockout aromas of kirsch, blueberry, tobacco, leather, tar, graphite and lavender are expansive and strikingly precise. Dark and red berry and tobacco flavors are very varietally accurate and boast noteworthy freshness despite their outrageous size thanks to bright minerality and acid lift. Showcases a refined quality and a steely backbone that provides nice spine to the red fruit, coffee and cocoa notes. Finishes very long and seamless with a multilayered quality to repeating sweet boysenberry and blueberry notes. This is an absolute knockout Bovale Sardo.
Drink 2022-2028.

Caves Aliança Quinta da Garrida 2013
Dao, Portugal

Wine Spectator 90:

A lithe red, with a rich array of spice and red fruit flavors accented by powerful notes of hot stone. Hints of violet, forest floor and green herb linger on the finish.

Anderson's Conn Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Napa, California, USA

Wine Advocate  93:

Blended of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the deep purple-black colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon rocks up with quite a profoundly earthy nose of tilled black soil, underbrush and truffles over a core of baked plums and warm cassis plus a waft of dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with vibrant black fruits and a solid structure of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing with bags of vivacity.
Drink 2019-2033.
