Cozy Winter Cottage (Isabelle Binder)

Item Number: 110
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
My piece consists of a light brown cabin with a small chimney and several shining windows. In front of the cabin is a small but sparkling skating pond and two short and stubby marshmallow white snowmen. If you look over to the right side of the canvas you will find a dark green tree that resembles an evergreen tree with tiny bits of sparkling white snow on it. Behind that tree, you will find a round light green hill with tiny light and dark green trees on it. Bringing your viewpoint over to the left side of the canvas you will see another dazzling dark green evergreen tree on top of the pure white snow with a tall, narrow birch tree in front of it.

My name is Isabelle. I attend St. Philip Catholic School in Richmond. I am eleven years old and I’m in sixth grade. My family is originally from Canada and I have lived in Richmond, Ontario for my whole life.
Some of the techniques that we learned while making our art are blending, how to make texture, and how to do shading. While I was making my piece I realized that art doesn’t always have to be perfect. I came to this realization because I was creating my piece and it didn’t look exactly how I wanted it to but I just kept going and in the end, I really liked it and thought that it turned out really good. I created this dazzling winter piece because I was inspired by the art of Katerina Mertikas and also because my favorite winter scenes are winter cabin scenes.
My artwork is important to me because of all the work and time I put into it and because of all the joy it brought me. I hope that when people look at my art it brings them joy just like the joy it brought me.
