Description

The white stone house in my painting has a very bold red roof. I love the red roof because it stands out to the rest of the things and the bright red bench matches as well. I decided to do a big ice frozen pond because it is so big it kind of shows the colorful  snowmans beside the pond. The big bold evergreen trees stand out with the snow piled on top.

I’m Maddy and I’m a grade six student at St. Philips school. I was born in Kanata and moved to Richmond in grade 2, So I’ve lived here for 4 years. I play many sports, but my favorite sport is basketball.I started playing basketball at the age of 5. At the age of 5 as well I started to notice how much I love coloring and drawing a lot. I have three sisters, one older sister Grace who is 13, and a younger sister Vivien who is 9 ,and the youngest sister Sophie who is 5. Ever since I was little I always remember coloring with my sisters together and we still like to now.

We learned many techniques like blending colors, shading as well and using a darker shade of your color to make it look like a shadow which I did on the house.

Painting with Caterine Merkis was pretty stressful at the beginning then I learned it’s ‘’ok’’ make a mistake with acrylics you can just cover it up. I found that after each painting session I felt more confident than nervous. At the end of our whole painting session I felt like I needed to paint more often because I found it very relaxing and fun. My painting is really important because all the work I put into it and all the techniques I learned put into this painting, so this painting is really important. I hope when I'm older I can still continue painting because I found it such joy.
