Sunset Red signed print by Althea Sassman
Desert contemporary artist Althea Sassman integrates handmade, hand-painted, and found recycled papers onto canvas to create a unique “painting” entirely from torn paper collage. This organic method involves tearing and gluing each individual paper piece while layering color, pattern and texture. Significant text from old book pages, postage stamps from her father’s childhood collection, or piano music sheets passed down from family generations all help to lead the observer in for more detail. Commissioned pieces often include personal memorabilia such as favorite wine labels, maps, ticket stubs from travels, and handwritten postcards.

Winning bidders located in Northern California may pick up their items in Napa at a location and date to be arranged -- details will be emailed to winning bidders. Items not picked up by March 10, 2023, will be mailed to the winning bidder, and purchaser is responsible for shipping and insurance costs. (Note that we will automatically mail gift cards and gift certificates for free -- no need to pick those up.)
Items purchased by bidders residing outside of Northern California will be shipped on or around Tuesday, February 7, 2023, unless you tell us that you wish to pick up your item. Purchaser is responsible for shipping and insurance costs. (Gift cards and gift certificates ship for free.)
