Description
Napa Appellations - Howell Mountain: 2 Bottles of Wine from a Prized Region
The very first sub-AVA in the Napa Valley, Howell Mountain has grown to become one of the most prestigious and prized regions in the Napa Valley. With a minimum elevation of 1,400 ft, Howell Mountain grapes are always above the fog-line leaving them exposed to the sun troughout the day. These grapes are grown in thin, rocky soils on rugged terrrain. The warmer nights don't allow the vines to rest long and the cooler days extend the growing season. All these conditions create the unique wines of Howell Mountain. Wines with beautiful fruit and a more savory element than their valley floor counterparts -- more tobacco, earth, and leather notes along with more a rugged, edgy tannin profile. These are serious wines.
B Cellars 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, 750mL - 1 Bottle
The nose is laden with blackberry jam and macerated raspberries. Opening up to more savory elements of sage, tobacco, forest floor, and sweet licorice. The palate is rich and expansive with plum preserve, black cherries, blackberry compote, and crème de cassis. Powerful and chalky tannins remind you of this wine’s mountain origin.

Fleury Estate: 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, 750mL - 1 Bottle
A deep set and richly beautiful garnet in color, the 2014 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of blackberry, black cherry, graphite, saddle leather, toasty oak and dried herbs. Hints of forest floor and spring flowers funnel in after a minute or so in the glass. The densely layered nose is just the start to what is a unmistaken Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Fabulously concentrated, yet elegant with its presence. On the palate, notes of blackberry, blueberry, cedar and graphite dance on your tongue. The velvety tannins lead to a long and lasting finish. Full bodied and voluptuous, this is a stunner to enjoy for years to come.
The Howell Mountain Appellation, with its rolling hills and unique microclimates, offers spectacular vineyards and some of the most wonderful and sought-after wines. Standing gracefully above the valley floor and overlooking Saint Helena, Howell Mountain sees slightly warmer nighttime temperatures and cooler mid-day temperatures. The difference in temperature is still pronounced enough to maintain balanced acidity and allows the berries to develop somewhat a thicker skin that imparts intense color, texture and structure to the wines.

"The grapes take center stage in every one of our wines. It's our mission to make sure the very best goes into every barrel, bottle and glass of our wines." -Brian Fleury
Fleury Estate Winery is a family-owned winery in the heart of the Napa Valley. Brian Fleury made the decision to turn his skills as a successful Bay Area businessman to the wine business purchasing the estate in Rutherford in 2000. Brian has always had a passion for fine wines and specifically Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley. So, when he was ready for a change Brian decided to turn to a career in winemaking he brought his entire family with him to the Napa Valley. Upon arrival in Napa, Brian set about learning how to make wine from various mentors and friends in the valley. The Fleury Estate Winery is the result of years of passion, hard work and dedication that Brian and Claudia love to share with their guests.
