Description
Exploring Beyond Napa: 3 Bottles
Look beyond the Napa Valley with some beautiful wines from neighboring wine-growing regions, including two wines from our neighbor to the north, the up-and-coming Lake County AVA, and one wine from the North Coast:
- Fore Family Vineyards 2020 Grenache Blanc, Cobb Mountain (Lake Co.)
- Fore Family Vineyards 2018 Grenache Noir, Cobb Mountain (Lake Co.)
- Starmont 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, North Coast
Fore Family Vineyards, 2020 Grenache Blanc, Cobb Mountain Vineyard, Lake County, 750mL - 1 Bottle
There is some weight here, which is both classic and varietally correct, but no lack of brightness thanks to the stainless steel maturation and no malolactic fermentation. Pair this wine with artisanal cheeses, charcuterie boards, and other seasonal bounties.

Fore Family Vineyards, 2018 Grenache Noir, Cobb Mountain Vineyard, Lake County, 750mL - 1 Bottle
A wonderful fruit-driven wine. The fresh scent of strawberries are first soon mingled with those of crème brulee, rich loam earth and truffles. Some currant and darker fruit notes linger in the glass. There is a lively acidity on the front of the palette that are quickly followed by elements of strawberries and truffles. Some white pepper and almost floral flavors appear and carry through the finish.

About Fore Family Vineyards: The inception of Fore Family Vineyards started with a surprise, an opportunity, and a moment of brief insanity.
Around 1994, Jim Fore had been working as an engineer draftsman at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, CA designing piping schematics for submarines. When they announced the closure of the shipyard, he was given the chance to re-evaluate his career path or move to Washington to work at their shipyard. Jim knew he wanted to be more connected to the land with his next path in life.
I came home one day and said "Honey, we are going to be farmers!"
Diane's response: "Farm WHAT?"

Starmont 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, North Coast - 1 bottle
WINEMAKING
In our continued quest to deliver impressive quality at a reasonable price, we have expanded our sourcing for Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon. The blend comes from four different counties (Lake 76%, Napa 11%, Sonoma 3% and Yolo 10%). This wine was aged 18 months and bottled unfined.
TASTING NOTES
Our goal for Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon is richness and balance, with just the right amount of restraint to achieve a fresh, elegant example of Cabernet Sauvignon from California’s North Coast winegrowing region. On the nose, blackberry and boysenberry leap out of the glass with graphite and cedar adding complexity, while hints of sage and juniper maintain a fresh element. A focused entry with a generous mid-palate leads into a structured finish that lingers pleasantly.
