Private Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Boston Public Library for four plus Afternoon Tea at the Courtyard Tea Room
 
Established in 1848 by an act of the Great and General Court of Massachusetts, the Boston Public Library (BPL) was the first large free municipal library in the United States. The present Central Library in Copley Square has been home to the library and has served as its headquarters since 1895, when Charles Follen McKim completed his "palace for the people." Director of Library Services, and Provincetown Film Society Board member, Michael Colford will tour you through the McKim building to see its exquisite murals series by John Singer Sargent, Edwin Austin Abbey, and Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, a peaceful inner courtyard, the iconic Bates Hall Meeting Room and additional works of famed sculptors and painters. In addition, he will pull back the curtain to show you some of the parts of the buildings not accessible to the public, including the four floors of stacks above the Boylston St. Building, and more. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious high tea at the beautiful Courtyard Team Room run by The Catered Affair.
