Emerson's First Marriage, by Henry F. Pommer. Southern Illinois University Press, 1967. 126 pp. Hardcover, light gray paper boards with blue cloth spine. Pink and illustrated paper dust jacket. Ex-library, with some labels, marks, and edge dings. Pages are clean. Ralph Waldo Emerson and Ellen Louisa Tucker were married on September 30, 1829. They settled in Boston, where Emerson was already a minister of the Second Unitarian Church. Sadly, Ellen died on February 8, 1831. Emerson suffered intsense grief after her death, and many aspects of his later life were affected by both her life and death.
