Description

Lawrence Millman, author of "Fascinating Fungi of New England," (and 15 other books) will be your foray leader on a mushroom identification walk in Estabrook Woods, Concord, Massachusetts.

Whether or not you're a novice, or an expert forager, you will be amazed, as Mr. Millman is an enthusiastic teacher and compelling storyteller, who literally leaves no branch unturned.

The focus will be on fungal ecology (i.e., what is that mushroom doing in its habitat?) as well as identification. Try as you might, you will not persuade Mr. Millman to talk about whether a mushroom is edible, unless the eater in question is some kind of insect.

Lawrence Millman is a writer, ethnographer, Arctic explorer, and mycologist. In 2006, he discovered a mushroom in New Hampshire that was thought to be extinct. He has a mountain named after him in East Greenland and is a Fellow of the prestigious Explorers Club, and has a doctorate in Literature.
