Description
The White Hills: Their Legend, Landscape and Poetry, by Thomas Starr King. With sixty illustrations, engraved by Andrew, from drawings by Wheelock. Crosby, Nichols, and Lee, 1860, 403 pp. Thomas Starr King's classic approach to these New England mountains and their respective valleys. This copy has been EXPERTLY REBOUND along the way. Has multiple inscriptions from the first few owners. Maroon cloth with ornate gilt decorations on both boards. Gilt top edges, all around. The pages are only lightly aged, and the engravings are quite lovely. Average edge and corner wear to the original covers. Otherwise, this is a nifty find. [Note to Thoreauvians: No, Henry Thoreau did NOT own or read a copy of this book. At least, not according to Mr. Sattelmeyer.]
